Most humans are brain-wired to follow a rigid path and stick to routines that allow them to stay in their comfort zone. Practicing a new skill creates new pathways in the brain until it becomes a routine as well.

Your combined skills are the driver of who you are, yet beyond the skills you’re aware of having and you spent years nourishing and mastering, there are some drivers you may be underestimating because they come very easy to you!

The world of software is exponentially speeding up. The growing need for software to digitalize more and more day-to-day operations is matched understandably by its high complexity. The increased complexity of the software leads to higher quality risks that could be disastrous in some cases, especially if you expect the software to handle various sensitive daily operations, from financial transactions to driving an autonomous car.

Are humans capable of that?

The human brain can handle only so much when creating a complex system. The need for teams to cover all corners of the system is prudent and highly necessary. Building teams that have the proper skills to fit the tasks at hand is often a mess. We need to have the experts closer to the problems. A superpower is that thing that comes easier to you than to many others. When you see the problem, you know full-heartedly what to do, and you find yourself wondering how on earth others can’t see it! It’s like how top musicians make playing a complex tune on an instrument seem so easy!

A skill is different from your superpower. Being able to handle a tool is a skill; being able to create miracles with that tool is a superpower! Get the two together! A superpower doesn’t mean that you must only dig deeper into one skill, but you have to be able to expand your skill spectrum and apply your superpowers to each.

How to build the superpower team

The structure of a team will have to look differently to host the superpowers. You must consider various factors important for the team, like mental health, work ethics and collaboration methods. CEOs and teams will need to learn how to understand conflicts, master the ways of resolving them, and accept human emotions and feelings.

How we identify superpowers in Sixsentix Germany

The easiest and most important step to recognize and activate your superpower is to discover it for yourself. The brain operates on autopilot when it comes to accomplishing work tasks. It is easy to miss our own potential within a rigidly structured work environment. 

So, the first step to do is to identify your strength(s). There is a series of tools and ways to identify strengths. The most common and the closest to reality is the Gallup Strengths Finder. 

Remember! Psychological analysis tools are merely an instrument to get you to know a closer reality of yourself. But they do not cover everything about who you are. With that in mind, know that the more you know of yourself, the more there is for you to uncover and unleash. When one understands one’s own strengths and the blind spots of those strengths one would get to learn what your driver is, the one thing that makes you who you are. When you recognize it, own it, and put it into action with your skills, together they will become your superpower.

Get the team’s recognition for your superpower. In Sixsentix Germany, we run a personal check for each member. The team members would give their thoughts on what they think of the individual and recognize their talents.

How to cultivate a superpower

To cultivate your superpower, you first need to recognize your strengths. Study them and make them your own. Among your strengths lies that one thing that you didn’t recognize, which may be your discipline, your accuracy, or your attention to detail. To make use of it in a team, you must first understand it and own it. Try to put it into practice using the skills you already know you have.

There is a lot of work cut out for us, but we are going in the right direction!
